The Caribbean island of Saint-Barthelemy (commonly known as Saint Barts) is one of the most exclusive vacation destinations in the world, boasting stunning natural landscapes which cover everything from high-peaked mountains down to sugary-white-sanded beaches and shimmering turquoise-blue waters. This luxurious villa represents an outstanding opportunity for a large party of friends or family to enjoy an idyllic home life among the scenic beauty of one of the most desirable areas in Saint Barts: Anse des Cayes.
Located in the northwest of Saint-Barthelemy, Anse des Cayes Beach is renowned for its attractive combination of powder-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rugged rock formations. The name, Anse des Cayes, refers to the abundance of coral reefs (cayes) in this precious part of the island, which can easily be explored in the shallow turquoise waters directly off of the coast. Anse des Cayes has a gentle onshore breeze, which makes it a popular area for surfers and sailors.
This breathtaking ocean view home offers an elevated position that maximizes the sweeping panoramic views of the bay. The villa is designed to capture the best of the gorgeous natural vistas, with numerous terraces, patios, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Approached via a long, winding pathway which ensures it maintains the ultimate in privacy and seclusion, this awe-inspiring property boasts six luxuriously-appointed bedrooms and five spa-inspired en-suite bathrooms, offering ample space for a large group of up to 12 guests to make the most of this exceptional vacation destination.
The property has an intriguing layout, which makes full use of the lush green gardens, filled with palm trees and other tropical flora. This vacation rental is divided over three buildings: the main house hosts two bedrooms, a lounge, and the kitchen; the second structure has two bedrooms and a sheltered outdoors lounge; and the third building houses two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a large deck area complete with a dining set, sun loungers, and a plunge pool. Each of the bedrooms benefits from access to an en-suite bathroom.
Indoors, you’ll discover a living space which has a sleek, modern decor of neutral tones and clean lines. The villas are punctuated by distinct Asian elements – including numerous statues of the Buddha – which combine the zen-like peace of the orient with the relaxed spirit of the Caribbean. A lot of the outdoor furniture is from Bali, Indonesia, which adds a distinct and rare aesthetic to this part of the world.
The favorable climate of the Saint-Barthélemy allows architects to create living spaces which truly blur the line between indoors and outdoors. The main living area has two extremities which are entirely made of glass. These doors slide away to create an effortless transition from inside the home to the enormous terrace, which has attractive decking furnished with comfortable sofas, distressed vintage-chic armchairs, and a huge dining table. Outdoor dining is an everyday part of the Saint Barts lifestyle, and it offers the opportunity to enjoy a meal with friends with the spectacular backdrop of the vibrant blue Caribbean Sea.
Passing down the steps from the main house’s wraparound terrace, we come to the lower level patio which hosts a refreshing infinity-edge swimming pool. This lower deck is furnished with sun loungers and built-in benches which face Anse des Cayes’ bay. The huge deck area is completed with a pavilion adjacent to the swimming pool, which features exercise equipment and a massage table. Further down the garden path, we discover a peaceful oasis housing a quaint ajoupa – a wooden-framed hut typical of the Caribbean – hosting a second dining table and a comfy chill out area.
The kitchen in the main house is open to the living room and has an enormous window which opens fully to complete the fantastic flow of air this house possesses. The cathedral ceiling also adds to the general airiness of the home, while the whitewashed finish allows the light to reflect around the room. The bright ceiling contrasts nicely with the rich, darker tones found in the hardwood floors and built-in bookshelf. The kitchen is a sleek and stylish cooking space which is finished with dark-colored cabinetry, marble counters, and high-end stainless steel appliances.
The newer villa’s lounge is decorated in a more contemporary style, resembling a modern condominium. The home is furnished with a comfortable corner couch, light-colored wood flooring, and two adjacent windows which spectacularly captures a wide waterfront panorama. The kitchenette also has a lighter tone than the main house, contrasted nicely by the black surfaces and stainless steel appliances. Sliding glass doors lead to the private, poolside terrace.
All of the bedrooms throughout the villa are designed at the height of contemporary interior fashion and benefit from direct access to en-suite bathrooms. The main house’s bedrooms have robust, wooden king-sized beds, attractive tiling on the floor, and floor-to-ceiling windows with sliding glass doors which serve to draw the awesome natural surroundings into the room. The bedrooms in the new villa also have direct access to the outdoors areas, however, they are decorated in the lighter tones we found throughout this building. The bedrooms in the third building are split over two levels, with two single beds on the ground floor and two single beds on the mezzanine.
The stylish bathrooms are finished to exceptionally high standards with fixtures and fittings which benefit from the pinnacle of contemporary interior design. Features on show include double vanities, walk-in showers, bathtubs, and some with direct access to the terrace.
This luxurious home is an excellent location capturing the best of beautifully scenic Anse des Cayes. Guests of this upscale vacation rental can enjoy easy access around Saint-Barthélemy, capturing the best of the incredible lifestyle afford to this quaint little Caribbean island. Although Saint Barts has continued to develop its celebrity status, the island has maintained the raw natural beauty of its 22 pristine beaches, rugged coastlines, and idyllic hills and mountains. Watersports enthusiasts can enjoy scuba diving in coral reefs, windsurfing with a gentle onshore breeze, paddleboarding, and sailing for all levels.
